Before Treatment: Preparation Checklist
- Vacuum Thoroughly
- Vacuum all floors, carpets, rugs, and upholstered furniture, including under cushions and beds.
- Dispose of the vacuum bag or empty the canister into a sealed plastic bag and place it in an outdoor trash can.
- Wash Linens and Fabrics
- Wash all bedding, pet blankets, and soft toys in hot water and dry on high heat.
- Remove and wash curtains or drapes if possible.
- Declutter Floors
- Pick up any items from the floor, such as toys, clothes, shoes, and loose papers, to allow the technician full access to the treated areas.
- Prepare Pet Areas
- Wash pet bedding and toys in hot water.
- Remove food and water dishes, as well as any other pet items, from the floor.
- Vacate the Property
- Plan to leave your home for a minimum of 4-6 hours during and after the treatment.
- Inform the technician of any individuals with asthma, respiratory conditions, or chemical sensitivities so they can advise on additional precautions.
- Secure Pets
- Ensure all pets, including birds, reptiles, and fish, are removed from the home or properly secured.
- Cover fish tanks and turn off air pumps to prevent exposure to treatment products.
- Yard Maintenance (if applicable)
- Mow the lawn and remove excess yard debris where fleas may harbor.
- Keep outdoor pet areas clear for treatment.
After Treatment: Post-Service Instructions
- Wait Before Returning
- Do not enter the treated areas until the advised time has passed (typically 4-6 hours).
- Ventilate the Home
- Open windows and doors to air out the home for 30 minutes upon your return.
- Do Not Clean Immediately
- Avoid vacuuming or mopping treated areas for at least 10-14 days to allow the treatment to work effectively.
- Dispose of vacuum bags or clean canisters after every vacuum session to prevent reinfestation.
- Monitor Flea Activity
- You may notice some fleas after treatment as the residual product continues to work. This is normal and part of the process.
Additional Notes
- Re-treatments: A follow-up service may be required for severe infestations.
- Pet Flea Control: Ensure all pets are treated with veterinarian-approved flea control products to prevent reinfestation.
