General Pest Control Service Preparation Sheet

Before Treatment: Preparation Checklist

  1. Clean the Home
    • Vacuum and mop all floors, paying attention to corners, baseboards, and under furniture.
    • Wipe down countertops, and clean up crumbs, grease, and spills in the kitchen and dining areas.
    • Take out all trash and ensure trash cans are clean and covered.
  2. Declutter Areas
    • Reduce clutter in rooms, closets, and storage areas to minimize hiding spots for pests.
    • Move items away from walls to allow access to baseboards and corners.
  3. Secure Food and Utensils
    • Store food, pet food, and utensils in sealed containers or remove them from areas to be treated.
    • Cover or remove any open food items.
  4. Pet Preparation
    • Remove all pets, including birds and reptiles, from the property during the service.
    • Cover fish tanks and turn off air pumps to prevent exposure to treatment products.
  5. Access to the Home
    • Provide clear access to all rooms, including garages, attics, and basements, as well as any outdoor areas requiring treatment.
    • Unlock gates or doors to allow access to exterior treatment zones.
  6. Specific Pest Issues
    • Inform the technician of any specific pest concerns or areas of high activity so they can focus on those zones.
    • Remove items stored under sinks and in cabinets where pest activity is observed.
  7. Vacate the Property (if advised)
    • Depending on the treatment, you may need to leave your home for 2-4 hours. Your technician will inform you if this is necessary.

After Treatment: Post-Service Instructions

  1. Wait Before Reentering
    • Do not enter treated areas until the recommended time has passed.
  2. Ventilate the Home
    • Open windows and doors to air out the property upon your return.
  3. Do Not Clean Immediately
    • Avoid washing treated surfaces for at least 7-10 days to allow the products to take full effect.
    • Regular cleaning of floors and countertops can resume after this period, avoiding treated areas.
  4. Dispose of Dead Pests
    • Use a vacuum to remove dead pests, and empty the vacuum into a sealed bag before disposing of it in an outdoor trash can.
  5. Monitor Activity
    • You may see increased pest activity initially as the treatment drives pests out of hiding. This is normal and will subside over time.
    • Contact us if pest activity persists after three weeks.
  6. Prevention Tips
    • Store food in sealed containers and clean up spills promptly.
    • Seal cracks and gaps around doors, windows, and pipes.
    • Keep outdoor areas free of debris and trim vegetation away from the home.
